Great Ways to Improve Your Smile # 5

Braces
While orthodontic work that begins while a child is growing helps produce optimal results, that doesn’t mean that adults can’t have braces. Thanks to advances in orthodontic treatments, metal brackets are not your only option. Removable aligners, or invisible braces,î or clear plastic brackets can all be used to straighten crooked or crowded teeth.

Orthodontic Dentistry

Orthodontics Without Braces

Orthodontics have come a long way since the times of numerous dental visits, tightening of wires, and wearing headgear to straighten your teeth. Invisalign™ are invisible aligners that are similar to teeth-whitening trays. They eliminate the need for braces and wires and will correct all the usual problems with bite, overcrowding, and gaps in your teeth.

With 3-D computer-imaging, we outline an entire plan for your goals and needs. We then can design a series of thermoplastic aligners that fit over your teeth. You start with the first set and proceed every two weeks to the next set. With each advancement, your teeth are partially moved to the desired position until you have gone through each set and arrived at your final goal. Evaluation of progress is only every one or two months. Length of treatment time depends on your personal needs.

There are significant advantages to straightening your teeth with Invisalign. They are very discreet and nearly invisible. Someone would have to look up close at your teeth to know you are wearing them. This continues your confidence throughout your treatment time. Comfort is a major concern, and they never pinch or produce any discomfort or mouth irritation. Unlike traditional braces, they are in one piece for each the upper and lower teeth. Less time is spent in the dental chair as no adjustments are necessary. You simply move on to the next set of aligners.

And there are no inconveniences. With braces, you have to watch what foods you eat as cleaning your teeth and gums are not easy with bonded braces on your teeth. But with Invisalign, you can eat and drink whatever you like during your treatment time. These aligners can be removed for proper cleaning each day. You wear them throughout the day and during sleep to continue their work for a beautiful smile.
